Spring is the season for change and it’s the perfect time to refresh your wardrobe with a few key pieces to make a statement over the coming months.
We all have this archetypal image of Spring as this warm and sunny time of year, but in reality it can be very grey and wet, so it’s worth bearing this in mind when you invest in anything new to wear for the coming months, things need to be versatile and multifunctional to make them a worthy investment.
That said, as the temperatures are likely to get a tad warmer, I’m looking to pack away my overcoats and replace with a few stand out jackets to really make a statement this season. Whether it’s pairing with a chunky roll neck or combining with a knitted tee, a lightweight jacket is a great investment and is a versatile addition to any wardrobe.
Here are 3 of my favourite statement jackets this season:
1. The Orange Wax:
A friend of mine recently recommended Percival Menswear and after quick search of their website, I was officially obsessed. They are a refreshing new arrival to what can often feel like a very stagnant menswear market. For Percival, it’s all about the attention to detail and there’s the added benefit that all items are manufactured in the UK, great to see in this current climate.
This orange wax jacket is lightweight, waterproof and most importantly, a real statement piece. If the weather gets chilly it can be combined with a chunky knitted roll neck for a cosy look or if the sun decides to make an appearance it’s equally at home with a classic tee or button up shirt.
The cinnamon orange colour is seriously eye popping and I love rocking this on a grey day, to add some much needed vibrancy and colour. The attention to detail is spot on and I particularly like the corduroy collar, a very welcome contrasting texture to the wax.
This jacket packs down nicely and is the perfect piece to keep in your day bag in case the heavens decide to open – a worthy investment for the rainy months of March and April.
Only 30 of these jackets were manufactured, so be quick!Shop the look:
2. The Cinnamon Corduroy:
You may have noticed that corduroy has experienced something of a renaissance over the past 6 months and has been returning to catwalks and pavements ever since.
The fabric will always have traditional connotations, but if styled the right way, with bold colours and tailored fits, it can be as contemporary as you like.
This cinnamon jacket is a modern take on a very retro look and the navy moleskin pockets and under collar make this a real stand out garment.Whether buttoned up for a smarter look or unbuttoned, this jacket is the definition of versatile and can be styled up and layered in numerous ways. Another option for windy days in town would be to layer under a peacoat or overcoat, or even under a blazer for a really smart vibe.
The cinnamon colour looks particularly sharp when paired with navy or a darker colour underneath and I’m loving my sailor stripes this Spring!Shop the look:
3. The Navy Suede:
If you’ve followed me for a while you’ll know I love a good suede jacket and my go-to in recent years has always been Reiss. I love their current collection and as soon as I stumbled across this navy suede zip-through, I knew I had to have it!
Yes it’s an investment piece and is nearer the top of the pricing spectrum, but it’s a versatile jacket and one that will look good for years to come if you look after it. (Lots of suede protector spray!)For a more casual look pair this with a knitwear tee and for a smarter look a merino wool roll neck will work nicely.Shop the look:
