Whether the British summer has started yet or not is debatable (!) but one thing is for sure, it’s time to switch up your scents and reach for a fragrance that evokes the warmer months of the year and adds some much needed freshness to your outfits.
In the summer I always like to go for fragrances that are light and ultra refreshing, with neroli, bergamot and citrus some of my favourite ingredients, that will compliment linens and lighter layers.
To make the ultimate statement add a few spritzes to your wrists and inner-elbows, where your fragrance of choice will hang close to the skin, spiking when your body heats up.
Here’s my top picks this summer, guaranteed to keep you smelling fresh all summer long!
The latest in the Light Blue collection, Light Blue Sun is a cocktail of Italian bergamot, frozen grapefruit and ginger, giving it a serious citrus freshness, much like a homemade lemonade and very well-suited to warmer days and summer outfits.
*When To Wear – A great all day fragrance, layer this over your sun lotion for a day down the beach or pool. I like to take this with me in my beach bag for ‘topping up’ throughout the day and for lunch in a local bar or taverna.
This fresh, refined and timeless fragrance from Acqua Di Parma always reminds me of walks around Positano last summer and the surrounding lemon groves.
Blending sage and lavendin and with notes of orange and lemon, Cipresso di Toscana is quite literally the Amalfi coast in a bottle and a great all-round summer scent.
Cipresso di Toscana is part of the Blu Mediterraneo collection, essentially a whole host of scents that will immediately transport you to the deep blue coastline of the Italian riviera.
*When To Wear – Another scent suited to pretty much any time of day, wear this with a linen cuban shirt or merino knitted polo, pastel chino shorts and boat shoes.
This is a fragrance that always takes me straight back to holidays in Kefalonia, sunbathing by the rocky coastline and jumping in and out of the crystal clear waters of the Ionian sea.
Combining lemon, lavender and of course neroli, Neroli Portofino Forte is ultra fresh and a scent that is sure to upgrade any outfit and take it to that next level.
Also available as a regular private blend, I’ve always preferred the ‘forte’ version, it’s much more powerful, lasts longer and ultimately requires less spritzing, so the bottle will last you that bit longer too!
*When To Wear – Given the price point I’d say this is a scent for those ultra special occasions, romantic dinners by the sea or summer weddings surrounded by close friends and family. Combine this scent with a smart linen jacket to make the ultimate entrance.
Clive Christian has long been in the business of good smells. This neroli, bergamot and black pepper cologne is certainly one for those of you looking to stand out from the crowd and make a real statement. Every time I wear Rock Rose I get people asking me where the fragrance I’m wearing is from, which is always a good sign!
Clive Christian have also recently launched a travel case and refill vials so you can now indulge in your favourite fragrance anytime or anywhere, in the world.

*When To Wear – Ideally suited for wedding season, pair with a linen double breasted blazer, crisp white shirt and monk-strap shoes.
