Gear Your Wardobe Up For Spring

Aynhoe-496I can’t quite believe I’m saying this, but Spring is upon us! This year is absolutely flying and I’m very much looking forward to a new season, better weather (warmer at least) and some new outfits!

Now, Spring can be rather unpredictable at the best of times and given the weather’s recent volatility, I have no doubt we are likely to see our fair share of rain over the coming months.  Dressing for Spring can be a real challenge as a result and it’s important to dress for all manner of scenarios.

For me the key is to add a number of versatile pieces to your wardrobe that can be styled up for almost any weather condition! A waterproof coat, some colourful knitwear and most importantly some durable footwear that will suit the inconsistent weather we are likely to experience over the coming months.

Here are 3 looks that will keep you warm, dry and most importantly looking slick this upcoming season:

1. An Outfit For A Rainy Day:

Aynhoe-439Aynhoe-449Every guy needs a smart casual look in his locker for those ultra wet days and this outfit will be my go-to for rainy occasions in town this season.  A ‘down’ waterproof jacket is a wardrobe essential for Spring, providing both warmth and protection against the elements and when paired with a colourful knit it’s the ideal smart casual look for those rain filled days.

A pair of classic denim jeans, very much weatherproof and more importantly, comfortable in any conditions.
Aynhoe-458Aynhoe-460Footwear is without doubt the most important decision this time of year and I always check the forecast before leaving the house.  If you’re anything like me and have an obsession with suede shoes, then this is the time of year to upgrade and invest in a couple of weather proof leather options to ensure you stay dry from head to toe.

ECCO have recently launched their Vitrus range, a collection of handcrafted shoes and boots equally focused on comfort and style.  This pair of black leather boots are made with full-grain leather, ideal for wet weather and seriously comfortable.  The interior of the shoe mirrors the contours of your feet and makes these a great option for a busy day of meetings or a day rushing around town.

*Top Tip – Wear these boots with a ‘turn up’ for some added detail and to full showcase their beautiful design.

2. An Outfit For The Rugby:

Aynhoe-26It’s always good to have an outfit in your locker for a day out exploring or even better, a day at the rugby.  Here’s a look I’ll be turning to for the ultimate in smart casual.

A navy peacoat is without a doubt one of the most essential wardrobe pieces for any modern day gent and will come in handy from Autumn right through to Spring.  Paired with a textured knit for some much needed contrasting detail, it’s a solid option for almost any event and it’s versatility will really come in handy.

I’ve chosen some dark indigo jeans to continue the blue theme and this particular pair are extremely comfortable and hard wearing.
Aynhoe-29I’m a huge fan of these ECCO Vitrus boots in the darker tan and they are a great colour for this time of year.  Whether worn with a pair of skinny jeans or smarter trousers or chinos, they always look smart and slick.

This particular pair are a great transitional shoe and can take you from a more casual look through to a smarter, more formal outfit with relative ease.Aynhoe-44Aynhoe-2 2Aynhoe-5*Top Tip – Wear these dark tan boots with a darker jean to really highlight the finer details of the brogue boot.

3. An Outfit For Date Night:

Aynhoe-257Here’s an outfit I’ll be turning to for date night, whether it’s a night out at the local cinema or a romantic meal for two.  A camel peacoat for a smarter option layered with a stand out knit adding some much needed vibrancy.  Cobalt blue is a current fave and ideal for adding some colour to your look on those greyest of days.Aynhoe-291Aynhoe-305Once again I’ve gone for a pair of selvedge denim jeans with a turn up alongside the beautiful ECCO Vitrus brogue boots in black.  I like the contrasting laces here and they work well with the colour of the peacoat.

The soles of the Vitrus have added grip and offer much needed traction for evenings when the heavens decide to open!Aynhoe-317*Top Tip – Grab some furniture polish and duster to give these boots a quick shine before wearing!

Don’t get caught out this season by the changing weather conditions and instead invest in a couple of versatile pieces to keep you looking slick all Spring!
