Tis’ The Season To Wear Knitwear

Knitwear season is very much upon us with the temperature taking a rapid drop and things starting to feel a whole lot chillier!  Knitwear offers a serious layer of warmth in the colder months and one of my favourite things about Winter fashion is layering knits with outerwear to create a stylish and more importantly, cosy look!

When it comes to picking knitwear I always first look at the materials used in the manufacturing.  If you are looking for warmth and comfort it’s important that wool makes up a fair proportion of the sweater.  Wool is not only extremely warm but will stand the test of time, so when it comes to knitwear it’s worth investing in a quality product that will do the job and last.

Ralph Lauren have forever been a favourite brand of mine and their knitwear is on another level to other brands in the market.  Made up of 100% wool, they are guaranteed to keep you nice and toasty during Winter and more importantly be around for years to come.

The Polo Bear collection by Ralph Lauren for me epitomises the festive season and these iconic knits are a stand out piece for layering with Winter outfits.  The melange wool sweaters are a much smarter and sleeker alternative to those festive jumpers out there and a knit that can be worn all year round.

My personal favourite from the collection is the newly launched ‘Tuxedo Bear’ wool sweater.  Manufactured using the ‘intarsia-knit’ process there are 16 different colour hues used and it’s a sweater for those that like to stand out from the crowd and be seen!

When it comes to Ralph Lauren it’s all in the finer details and the tuxedo bear design integrates 29% cashmere and 17% mulberry silk for some added textures and quality.  I’m loving playing around with differing textures this season and it’s nice to bring in a number of alternative fabrics to add to the look.

The Polo Bear sweater looks great when layered with a heavy overcoat and I particularly like this combination of different textures, with the cashmere and boiled wool contrasting and complimenting each other in equal measure.

Another great look is when paired with a contrasting colour like rust or burgundy.  I’m a big fan of bomber jackets and wearing the sweater underneath as a stand-out base layer is guaranteed to keep you cosy despite the sub-zero temperatures in December.  Knitwear needs to be comforting and cosy as well as stylish and the Polo Bear collection ticks all the boxes!

There’s no question this iconic sweater would make a fantastic Christmas gift for a loved one and is guaranteed to be worn and loved for years to come.

Walking the streets of New York I had multiple compliments and questions about where to buy this iconic sweater and it’s in those moments you realise it’s a very worthy investment to make a statement this Winter.
