Wardrobe Staples, The Club Blazer

When it comes to fashion, for me right now it’s all about investing in wardrobe staples; timeless pieces that are versatile and will be worn and enjoyed.

There is so much more choice and variance of clothing available to us these days and ‘current trends’ can mean buying an item and wearing it just a few times before these trends quickly change.  A much more economical way of building a wardrobe is to look for pieces that have always been ‘trending’ and that will never go out of fashion.  Ultimately this is the definition of a ‘timeless classic’, a fashion item that has been worn for decades and is easily styled.  There’s the added environmental benefits too – make the most of the clothing you invest in.

As past of this ongoing blog series, the next ‘staple piece’ is the classic ‘Club Blazer’.  The Club Blazer has been a timeless classic for nearly 60 years to the day, born out of the yacht clubs of old and worn for events when a suit was just too smart.

GANT redesigned the iconic blazer to become a more affordable alternative to tailored jackets in the 60s and for me it’s the ultimate in smart casual attire, ideal for a day at the races or that all important business meeting and come Summer, a great option for a wedding when paired with chinos.

My favourite way to wear this timeless classic is with an Oxford button down shirt and merino wool knit and pair or chinos or jeans.
